Custom software shouldn’t feel like a leap of faith

VisionX is Coventa’s AI FDE — an AI Forward Deployed Engineer that understands your business and then executes on it. It is a process coupled with custom-built tooling and governed agent fleets. The VisionX pillars (Landscape, Audit, Blueprint, Build, etc.) are ways of approaching different parts of a problem, in the way that other product management frameworks like Jobs to Be Done or North Star or even Scrum attempt to break down gnarly problems into a set of mental models, rituals, and artifacts.

The difference is that the pillars are not just a way of thinking — they are how the work actually gets done. VisionX runs the enterprise delivery lifecycle end to end: it gathers requirements through structured discovery and process mapping, models your data and systems, builds and wires integrations, and validates every change against test cases before go-live. The same standardized agent workflow runs each engagement, so it gets faster the more it runs.

The past ten years of C-suite thinking have been dominated by Agile transformation, and that era is now over. In one way, Agile was all about managing the human bottleneck. Kanban boards, sprints, standups — these were rituals designed to break down tasks into manageable chunks so that teams didn’t go off and spend months building the wrong thing. But what took months now takes AI an hour or two. Agile wasn’t built for agents.

VisionX is our attempt to address that fact. It’s our answer to the question: When execution becomes commoditized, how do we work together to deliver the right solution?

A GSI staffs the same scope with hundreds of people on time-and-materials, which means cost scales with headcount and the incentive runs the wrong way — the longer it takes, the more they bill. Coventa delivers that scope with governed agent fleets and lean expert pods, and commits to the outcome rather than the hours.

That changes what we can put in a contract: beyond-SLA commitments on business outcomes, a standing value-engineering function with gain-share, a ring-fenced Innovation Fund, and a CSI flywheel where year on year you pay less for more. Those nine commitments are set out in full above.

VisionX, in practice, is a lot more than vibe coding a prototype or even using AI-assisted software engineering to build a production platform. The VisionX approach helps solution engineers understand the problem space they are working in much more quickly and fully, so they may ideate on good strategies with a client, and collaborate with other disciplines in ways that talking to an AI chatbot simply doesn’t support.

The reason this is significant is that we believe it’s the only way to ultimately deliver a robust, working, secure solution to the problems most companies face. And it can do it much faster than it could a year ago. That’s its promise.

VisionX is platform-agnostic and spans all four technology estates — ET, OT, IT and BT — under a single service-integrator model. In practice that means the enterprise suites you already run (ERP, CRM, ITSM, EHR, HRIS), the plant and industrial control layer, your product and engineering toolchain, plus smaller B2B SaaS, internal tools and bespoke APIs.

If a system has a console or an API, VisionX can configure and integrate it. We don’t require you to move onto a proprietary platform to get value.

Bounded autonomy is the default. Agents operate inside explicit guardrails with guardian agents supervising, continuous evals running against every change, and an immutable audit trail behind all of it — aligned to ISO 20000/27001, ITIL 4 and SOC 2 controls.

Every change runs as a controlled dry-run preview before it writes to a live system, and there is a deliberate deterministic-versus-AI split for where human judgment is required. Approval and rollback stay with your team.

It’s way more than that. Claude Code became so popular not because the model powering it was miles ahead of other companies’ models, but because the harness around the model was really useful. The product work Anthropic did to give access to tools, skills, etc. made it much more helpful than a chat or API interface.

VisionX is our harness — a set of tools, processes, principles, and opinions — that, when coupled with other powerful tools like Claude Code and the latest models and tools available, can produce incredibly good, incredibly reliable product solutions.

We think of VisionX as a kind of map. Phase names like “Landscape” and “Explore” already evoke a voyage, and maps are how you navigate a voyage successfully. AI is a new planet of potential, but as with any new realm, it is making a lot of would-be explorers — business leaders — anxious, for plenty of good reasons. They know there is a lot of power, if they could make sense of it. That’s why we created VisionX, to provide the map so we can get the most out of this new era safely, securely, and sensibly.
